  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • Red and green sanding sugars

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat together softened butter, cream cheese, sugar, eggs, vanilla, and almond extract until light and fluffy (4-5 minutes).
  2. Add flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt to the mixture. Mix on low speed until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  5. Use a cookie scoop to form 1-inch balls from the dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Lightly press each ball with a fork to create a crisscross pattern and sprinkle with sanding sugars.
  7. Bake for 9-11 minutes until slightly undercooked but not browned.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
