Ingredients

For the Banana Bread:
• 1 ½ cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3 large)
• 2 large eggs
• ½ cup brown sugar
• ¼ cup granulated sugar
• ⅓ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp baking soda
• ½ tsp baking powder
• ½ tsp salt
• 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries (if frozen, do not thaw)

For the Cinnamon Swirl:
• ¼ cup brown sugar
• 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Optional Topping:
• Extra blueberries
• Sprinkle of cinnamon sugar
• Drizzle of icing or glaze (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Oven & Pan

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2: Make the Cinnamon Swirl

  1. In a small bowl, mix together ¼ cup brown sugar and 1 tsp cinnamon.

  2. Set aside for layering.

Step 3: Mix the Banana Bread Batter

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, eggs, brown sugar, granulated sugar, oil, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  2. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.

  3. Gradually stir the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined—do not overmix.

  4. Gently fold in the blueberries, being careful not to crush them.

Step 4: Layer the Batter & Swirl

  1. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

  2. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the batter.

  3. Pour the remaining batter on top and finish with the rest of the cinnamon sugar.

  4. Use a butter knife or skewer to gently swirl the layers for a marbled effect.

Step 5: Bake the Bread

  1. Bake for 50–60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.

  2. If the top browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil.

  3. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 6: Serve & Enjoy

  1. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature.

  2. Delicious with a pat of butter, a drizzle of glaze, or just as-is!

Notes

Use Overripe Bananas – The riper, the sweeter and more flavorful your bread will be.
Don’t Overmix – Stir until ingredients are just combined to keep the bread light.
Use Fresh or Frozen Berries – Just be sure not to thaw frozen berries to avoid excess moisture.
Test with a Toothpick – It’s the best way to check for doneness.
Cool Before Slicing – Letting it cool helps the bread set and makes slicing easier.
