Ingredients

For the Bruschetta Base:
1 baguette, sliced into ½-inch thick pieces
1–2 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)

For the Toppings:
1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and finely chopped
½ cup chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella) or melted dark chocolate
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp sugar (optional, depending on berry sweetness)
Pinch of salt
Fresh mint leaves, chopped (optional)

For Finishing:
Balsamic glaze or honey
Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Chopped pistachios or almonds (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Toast the Bread

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet.

  3. Lightly brush both sides with olive oil.

  4. Toast in the oven for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.

  5. Remove and let cool slightly.

Step 2: Prepare the Strawberries
6. While the bread is toasting, chop the strawberries into small, even pieces.
7. In a small bowl, mix the strawberries with vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, and sugar if using.
8. Let the mixture sit for 5–10 minutes to macerate and become juicier.

Step 3: Spread the Chocolate
9. Once the toasted bread is slightly cooled, spread a generous layer of chocolate hazelnut spread or melted chocolate on each slice.
10. Be sure to go almost to the edges to get chocolate in every bite.

Step 4: Add the Strawberries
11. Spoon the macerated strawberries over the chocolate layer.
12. Use a slotted spoon to avoid adding too much juice that could make the toast soggy.
13. Sprinkle with chopped mint if using.

Step 5: Drizzle & Garnish
14. Drizzle lightly with balsamic glaze or honey for a sweet and tangy finish.
15. Optional: Dust with powdered sugar and/or sprinkle with chopped nuts for texture.

Notes

Use Day-Old Bread – Slightly stale bread toasts up crispier and holds toppings better.
Go for Ripe Berries – Sweet, ripe strawberries make all the difference.
Serve Immediately – Best enjoyed fresh so the bread stays crisp.
Play with Flavors – Add orange zest, cinnamon, or crushed freeze-dried strawberries.
