Ingredients
For the Cobbler Base:
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¾ cup whole milk
For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 ½ cups hot water
Optional Toppings:
- Vanilla ice cream
- Whipped cream
- Caramel drizzle
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray.
Step 2: Prepare the Cobbler Batter
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the melted butter, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and milk. Stir until smooth.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Step 3: Add the Cinnamon Sugar Topping
- In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly over the batter.
- Carefully pour hot water over the top. (Do NOT stir—this helps create a caramelized, gooey cobbler texture.)
Step 4: Bake the Cobbler
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top is golden brown and crackly, and the cobbler is bubbling.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy!
- Spoon warm cobbler into bowls.
- Top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for extra indulgence!
Notes
✔ Don’t Stir the Hot Water – This creates the caramel-like sauce at the bottom.
✔ Use Real Butter – It adds the best rich flavor.
✔ For Extra Cinnamon Flavor – Add ½ teaspoon of cinnamon to the batter.
✔ Let It Rest – The cobbler thickens slightly as it cools.
