- 1 1/2 cups brown rice
- 3 cups chicken bone broth
- 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 3 tablespoons grass-fed butter or ghee
- 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Fresh cilantro or parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse brown rice under cold water until clear; drain well.
- Pat shrimp dry with a paper towel.
- Whisk together all Cajun seasoning ingredients in a bowl.
- In a skillet over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add shrimp in a single layer and sprinkle with half the seasoning. Cook until pink and opaque (about 2 minutes per side), then set aside.
- In the same skillet, add remaining butter and rinsed rice along with the rest of the seasoning. Toast rice for 1 minute.
- Stir in chicken bone broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 22-25 minutes until tender.
- Combine cooked shrimp with rice; garnish with chopped herbs.
- Serve hot.
