Ingredients

For the Spaghetti Crust:
6 oz cooked spaghetti (about half a standard box)
1 large egg
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp butter, melted
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper

For the Filling:
1 tbsp olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb ground beef or chicken
2 cups marinara or pasta sauce
1 tsp Italian seasoning
¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

For the Cheese Layer:
1 cup ricotta cheese (or cottage cheese)
1 large egg
½ tsp dried basil or parsley
½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

For Topping:
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil or parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat & Prep

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Grease a 9-inch pie dish or springform pan with butter or nonstick spray.

Step 2: Make the Spaghetti Crust

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine cooked spaghetti, egg, Parmesan cheese, melted butter, salt, and pepper.

  2. Press the mixture into the bottom and slightly up the sides of the pie dish to form a crust.

Step 3: Cook the Meat Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.

  2. Sauté onion for 2–3 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.

  3. Add ground beef or chicken and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon.

  4. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5–7 minutes.

Step 4: Prepare the Cheese Mixture

  1. In a bowl, stir together ricotta cheese, egg, basil or parsley, and shredded mozzarella.

  2. Spread the cheese mixture evenly over the spaghetti crust.

Step 5: Assemble the Pie

  1. Spoon the meat sauce evenly over the cheese layer.

  2. Sprinkle with shredded mozzarella and Parmesan on top.

Step 6: Bake to Perfection

  1. Bake for 25–30 minutes, until the top is melted and bubbly.

  2. Let the pie rest for 10 minutes before slicing.

  3. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

Use Al Dente Pasta – Slightly firm noodles hold their shape better when baked.
Let It Rest – Cooling slightly before slicing helps the pie hold together.
Customize It – Add mushrooms, bell peppers, or olives to the sauce for extra flavor.
Double Up – Make two and freeze one for a no-fuss dinner later.
Try Different Cheese – Mix in provolone, fontina, or cheddar for a twist.
