For the Fried Ravioli

  • 1 (12-16 oz) package refrigerated cheese or beef ravioli – Fresh or frozen (thawed).
  • 1 cup buttermilk – Helps the coating stick.
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs – For a flavorful, crispy coating.
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese – Adds extra flavor to the breading.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder – A hint of savory goodness.
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper – For a touch of spice.
  • ½ teaspoon salt – Enhances all the flavors.
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano or basil – Adds an herby note.
  • Vegetable oil (for frying) – Enough for about 2 inches in a pan.

For the Marinara Dipping Sauce

  • 1 cup marinara sauce – Store-bought or homemade.
  • 1 clove garlic, minced – Adds depth to the sauce.
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning – For extra flavor.
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) – If you like a little heat.
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil – To sauté the garlic.

For Garnishing

  • Fresh parsley, chopped – For a pop of color.
  • Extra grated Parmesan cheese – Because more cheese is always better!

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Marinara Sauce

  1. Heat 1 teaspoon olive oil in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  4. Simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Keep warm while you prepare the ravioli.

Step 2: Prepare the Breading Station

  1. In a shallow bowl, pour the buttermilk.
  2. In another bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and dried oregano.

Step 3: Coat the Ravioli

  1. Dip each ravioli into the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off.
  2. Coat it in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to ensure an even coating.
  3. Place the coated ravioli on a plate and repeat with the rest.

Step 4: Fry the Ravioli

  1. Heat 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet over 350°F (175°C).
  2. Fry the ravioli in batches, cooking for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
  3. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on a plate lined with paper towels.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy!

  1. Sprinkle the fried ravioli with chopped parsley and extra grated Parmesan.
  2. Serve immediately with the warm marinara dipping sauce on the side.

Notes

Use Fresh or Thawed Ravioli – Frozen ravioli must be completely thawed to cook evenly.
Don’t Overcrowd the Pan – Fry in small batches to maintain the oil temperature.
Test the Oil Temperature – If a breadcrumb sizzles immediately, the oil is ready!
Make it Healthier – Try baking the ravioli at 400°F (200°C) for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway.
Air Fryer Option – Spray with cooking oil and air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
