Description

Garlic Butter Honey BBQ Beef Tacos are a savory and sweet fusion dish that brings together tender beef, rich garlic butter, and a tangy honey BBQ sauce, all wrapped in soft tortillas. These tacos are a perfect blend of bold flavors, making them an irresistible choice for taco night or a weekend gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

To make this mouthwatering dish, you’ll need:

  • 1 lb flank steak or skirt steak (you can also use ground beef)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand or homemade)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or Worcestershire sauce for a deeper flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 8 small flour or corn tortillas
  • Toppings of your choice (such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, chopped cilantro, avocado, cheese, and sour cream)

Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Beef

  1. Season the beef with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the beef to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, depending on thickness, until the beef reaches your desired level of doneness (medium-rare to medium is ideal for this recipe).
  4. Remove the beef from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.

Step 2: Make the Garlic Butter Honey BBQ Sauce

  1. In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Stir in the honey, BBQ sauce, and soy sauce. Let the sauce simmer for 3-4 minutes until it thickens slightly. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.

Step 3: Assemble the Tacos

  1. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until soft.
  2. Slice the cooked beef into thin strips and toss it in the garlic butter honey BBQ sauce to coat.
  3. Divide the beef mixture among the tortillas and top with your desired toppings, such as shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, cilantro, avocado, cheese, and a drizzle of sour cream.

Step 4: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Serve the tacos immediately while the beef is hot and the tortillas are warm.
  2. Pair with a side of Mexican rice, black beans, or chips for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Rest the Beef: Let the beef rest for a few minutes after cooking to keep it juicy.
  • Shred the Beef: For an extra tender texture, shred the beef instead of slicing it.
  • Customize the Sauce: If you like it spicier, add a dash of hot sauce or chili flakes to the BBQ sauce.
  • Use Soft Tortillas: For the best texture, use soft flour or corn tortillas that won’t overpower the filling.
