  • 4 slices sourdough bread (or dense bread of your choice)
  • 1 1/2 cups leftover macaroni and cheese
  • 8 slices American or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Heat ¾ cup of macaroni and cheese in a nonstick skillet over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes until warm.
  2. Shape the warmed mac & cheese into a pile the size of the bread, then top with 2 slices of cheese.
  3. Butter one side of each slice of sourdough bread.
  4. In another skillet over medium heat, place one slice of buttered bread down (butter side down) and add 2 slices of cheese on top.
  5. Once toasted to your liking, transfer the mac & cheese onto the cheese-covered bread.
  6. Top with another slice of bread (buttered side up), gently pressing down.
  7. Cook until golden brown on both sides, then serve immediately.
