Ingredients
To make this dish, you’ll need the following ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 medium potatoes, diced
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (or vegetable oil)
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin (optional, for extra flavor)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/2 cup beef broth (or water)
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Ground Beef
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and fully cooked (about 5-7 minutes).
- Drain any excess fat if necessary, then season with salt, pepper, paprika, and cumin. Stir to combine.
Step 2: Sauté the Onion and Garlic
- Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until softened and fragrant.
Step 3: Add the Potatoes
- Add the diced potatoes to the skillet and stir to mix with the beef, onions, and garlic.
- Season with a pinch of salt and pepper.
Step 4: Cook the Potatoes
- Pour in the beef broth (or water) and Worcestershire sauce if using.
- Cover the skillet and let the mixture simmer on low heat for 20-25 minutes, or until the potatoes are tender and cooked through. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking.
Step 5: Finish and Serve
- Once the potatoes are tender, taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Potato Variety: Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes work best for this recipe, as they become soft and tender when cooked.
- Add Veggies: To add more vegetables, try adding bell peppers, carrots, or peas towards the end of cooking.
- Spicy Kick: If you like heat, add some red pepper flakes or a dash of hot sauce to spice it up.
- Customize the Seasoning: You can also add herbs like thyme, rosemary, or oregano for extra flavor.
