Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ cup chopped yellow onion
- 1 pound lean ground beef (or ground turkey)
- 3 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- 1 ½ cups water
- 8 lasagna noodles (not no-boil)
- 25 ounce jar marinara sauce
- 8 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese
- Grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley (optional for serving)
Instructions
- Prepare the Instant Pot by heating olive oil using the sauté function. Add chopped onion and sauté until softened, about 2 minutes.
- Add ground beef or turkey, browning it while crumbling with a wooden spoon. Drain excess grease.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds before turning off the Instant Pot. Add Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper; mix well.
- Remove two-thirds of the meat mixture to a bowl. Pour in water and scrape up any bits stuck to the pot.
- Layer two broken lasagna noodles over the meat mixture, then top with one-third of reserved meat, followed by 2/3 cup marinara sauce and 1/3 cup mozzarella cheese.
- Repeat layering with another set of noodle halves, half of remaining meat, more sauce, and cheese.
- For the final layer, add remaining noodle halves on top followed by remaining marinara sauce.
- Seal the lid and set steam release valve to sealing position; cook on high pressure for 10 minutes.
- After cooking, perform a controlled quick release to release steam carefully.
- Let it rest uncovered for about 5–10 minutes before serving; sprinkle reserved mozzarella cheese on top.
