Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (21 oz) lemon pie filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened and cubed

  • 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow or white cake mix

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional for extra flavor)

Optional Toppings:

  • Powdered sugar for dusting

  • Whipped cream

  • Fresh raspberries or strawberries

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.

Step 2: Layer the Ingredients

  1. Spread the lemon pie filling evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.

  2. Scatter the cubed cream cheese evenly over the pie filling.

Step 3: Add the Cake Mix

  1. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the lemon and cream cheese layer.

  2. Gently shake the pan to distribute the cake mix into an even layer.

Step 4: Pour the Butter

  1. Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the cake mix.

  2. Make sure to cover as much of the surface as possible for the best buttery topping.

  3. Optional: Drizzle vanilla extract over the top for a touch of extra flavor.

Step 5: Bake the Cake

  1. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbly.

  2. Let the cake cool for at least 10-15 minutes before serving.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled, depending on your preference.

  2. Top with a dusting of powdered sugar, a dollop of whipped cream, or fresh berries for a beautiful finish.

Notes

Use Room Temperature Cream Cheese – It melts more evenly and blends into the filling.
Don’t Stir – Dump cakes work by layering; stirring changes the texture.
Cover Dry Spots – If any dry cake mix remains after baking, drizzle a little extra melted butter during baking.
Customize It – Add a handful of shredded coconut, white chocolate chips, or a sprinkle of lemon zest.
