Ingredients

Scale
  • 2832 ounces frozen French fries
  • 1 ½ teaspoons brown sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 4 tablespoons ranch dressing (plus more for dipping)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 cups medium cheddar cheese (freshly shredded)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven according to the fries package instructions. Line two baking sheets with aluminum foil and lightly spray with cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, mix all the seasonings except for the ranch dressing. Spread frozen fries on both baking sheets and generously sprinkle the seasoning mixture over them.
  3. Toss fries gently to coat evenly and arrange in a single layer. Bake according to package instructions, rotating halfway through for even cooking.
  4. While fries bake, melt butter in a medium skillet over medium-low heat. Add flour and whisk for about two minutes until combined.
  5. Slowly add milk while whisking until fully incorporated; cook until slightly thickened.
  6. Gradually stir in shredded cheese until melted and smooth; keep warm on low heat.
  7. Once fries are done, assemble by layering cooked fries on a plate, pouring cheese sauce over them, and drizzling with ranch dressing.
