Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup buttermilk
- 1 ½ cups fresh peaches, diced (or canned, well-drained)
- ¾ cup chopped pecans (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
Stir in vanilla extract.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the buttermilk.
Mix until just combined—do not overmix.
Gently fold in the diced peaches and chopped pecans with a spatula.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
Sprinkle extra chopped pecans on top for added crunch.
Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Slice and enjoy warm with butter or honey!
Notes
- Use Ripe Peaches: Fresh, ripe peaches add the best flavor and moisture.
- Don’t Overmix: Overmixing can make the bread dense instead of soft and tender.
- Toast the Pecans: Lightly toasting the pecans before adding them enhances their flavor.
