Ingredients
For the Dough:
-
3 cups all-purpose flour
-
1 packet (2¼ tsp) instant yeast
-
1 tbsp sugar
-
1 tsp salt
-
1 cup warm milk (110°F)
-
3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
-
1 egg
For the Garlic Rosemary Butter:
-
4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
-
4 cloves garlic, minced
-
1 tbsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
-
¼ tsp salt
-
¼ tsp black pepper
-
2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese (optional for topping)
Instructions
Step 1: Activate the Dough
In a large bowl, whisk together warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
Add in melted butter, egg, salt, and flour.
Mix until a dough forms, then knead by hand or with a dough hook for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Step 2: Make the Garlic Rosemary Butter
In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat.
Add minced garlic and rosemary. Cook for 1–2 minutes until fragrant (don’t let the garlic brown).
Remove from heat and stir in salt and pepper. Set aside.
Step 3: Shape the Dough Balls
Punch down the dough and divide it into 20–24 equal pieces.
Roll each piece into a ball.
Dip each ball into the garlic rosemary butter, then place in a greased round or loaf pan.
Layer the balls randomly to create a pull-apart effect.
Step 4: Final Rise
Cover the pan loosely with a towel or plastic wrap.
Let the dough rise again for 30–40 minutes, until puffy.
Step 5: Bake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Sprinkle the top with Parmesan cheese if using.
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown on top and cooked through.
If browning too quickly, cover loosely with foil during the last 10 minutes.
Step 6: Serve & Enjoy
Brush with any remaining garlic butter for an extra glossy finish.
Serve warm and let everyone pull apart their own piece.
Notes
- Use Fresh Garlic & Herbs – Fresh rosemary adds unbeatable flavor and aroma.
- Don’t Overbake – Check the bread at 25 minutes to avoid drying it out.
- Let It Rest – Allow the bread to cool for 5–10 minutes before serving for easier handling.
- Double the Butter Mix – For extra buttery goodness, especially if you love to dip.
- Make It Cheesy – Mix shredded mozzarella or cheddar into the dough balls for cheesy pockets.
