Ingredients

Scale

For the Steak:

  • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 1-inch thick)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 2 cloves garlic, smashed

  • 2 sprigs fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)

For the Shrimp & Lobster Sauce:

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 small shallot, finely chopped

  • ½ lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined

  • ½ cup cooked lobster meat, chopped (or use imitation lobster if needed)

  • ½ cup chicken or seafood broth

  • ½ cup heavy cream

  • 2 tbsp cream cheese

  • 1 tsp lemon juice

  • ¼ tsp paprika

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley for garnish

For Serving:

  • Mashed potatoes or rice

  • Steamed asparagus or sautéed spinach

  • Lemon wedges (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Prep and Season the Steaks

  1. Remove the steaks from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking to bring them to room temperature.

  2. Pat them dry with paper towels to ensure a good sear.

  3. Rub steaks with olive oil, then season generously with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.

Step 2: Cook the Steaks
4. Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat until very hot.
5. Add the steaks and sear for 3–4 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or cook to your preferred doneness.
6. In the last minute, add butter, smashed garlic, and rosemary/thyme to the pan. Baste the steaks with the melted butter using a spoon.
7. Remove steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate covered with foil.

Step 3: Make the Shrimp & Lobster Sauce
8. In a small saucepan, heat 1 tbsp olive oil and 1 tbsp butter over medium heat.
9. Add minced garlic and shallot, sautéing for 1–2 minutes until fragrant.
10. Add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes, or until pink and opaque.
11. Stir in chopped lobster meat and cook for another 1 minute.
12. Pour in chicken or seafood broth and bring to a simmer.
13. Reduce heat and stir in heavy cream and cream cheese.
14. Whisk until smooth and creamy, then add lemon juice, paprika, salt, and pepper to taste.
15. Simmer for another 2–3 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.

Step 4: Plate and Serve
16. Slice the rested steak and arrange on plates.
17. Spoon the hot shrimp and lobster sauce generously over the top.
18. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve with your choice of sides like mashed potatoes and asparagus.

Notes

  • Choose Quality Cuts – Ribeye, sirloin, or filet mignon all work well.
  • Don’t Skip Resting – Letting the steak rest locks in the juices.
  • Use Real Butter – For a rich, restaurant-style finish.
  • Make the Sauce Fresh – Prepare the seafood sauce just before serving for best texture and flavor.
  • Customize the Seafood – You can swap lobster for crab or use all shrimp.
