For the Banana Bread Batter:

  • 2 large ripe bananas – Mashed for natural sweetness.
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted – Adds richness.

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – Enhances the flavor.
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour – The base of the bread.

For the Cream Cheese Layer:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened – The star of the swirl!
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar – For a slight sweetness.
  • 1 large egg – Helps bind the cream cheese layer.
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract – For extra flavor.

For the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • ¼ cup brown sugar – Creates the swirled effect.
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon – A classic pairing with banana bread.

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat and Prepare the Pan

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2: Make the Banana Bread Batter

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas, melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.

Step 3: Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer

  1. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.

Step 4: Make the Cinnamon Swirl

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon.

Step 5: Assemble the Layers

  1. Pour half of the banana bread batter into the loaf pan and spread evenly.
  2. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon swirl mixture over the batter.
  3. Gently spread the cream cheese mixture over the cinnamon layer.
  4. Pour the remaining banana batter on top, smoothing it out.
  5. Sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon sugar mixture over the top and swirl it lightly with a knife.

Step 6: Bake the Banana Bread

  1. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
