Ingredients
- 16 oz loaf of French bread
- 3 ¾ cups whole milk
- 1 ½ cup heavy cream
- 7 large eggs

- 1 ¼ cup sugar
- Optional: zest of 1/2 an orange
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cut the French bread into cubes and place in a baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, vanilla extract, whole milk, and heavy cream until well combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread and gently press down to ensure all pieces are soaked.
- If desired, add the optional orange zest for extra flavor.
- Bake for about 120 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
