Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted and slightly cooled
- ¾ cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 ½ cups)
- ½ cup salted caramel sauce, plus extra for drizzling
- 1 teaspoon sea salt flakes (for topping)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Dry Ingredients
- In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Step 2: Mix the Wet Ingredients
- In another large bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Mix until well combined.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and mashed bananas.
Step 3: Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
- Gently fold until just combined—be careful not to overmix, as this can make the bread dense.
Step 4: Swirl in the Salted Caramel
- Pour half of the batter into a greased and floured 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- Drizzle half of the salted caramel sauce over the batter.
- Add the remaining batter on top and swirl the rest of the caramel sauce into the batter using a knife.
Step 5: Bake the Bread
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 55-65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- If the top starts to brown too quickly, cover it loosely with aluminum foil during the last 15 minutes of baking.
Step 6: Cool and Serve
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
- Transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Drizzle extra salted caramel sauce on top and sprinkle with sea salt flakes before serving.
Notes
- Use Ripe Bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful the bread will be.
- Don’t Overmix: To keep the bread moist and tender, mix until just combined.
- Caramel Swirl: Use a knife to gently swirl the caramel without over-mixing to get beautiful layers.
- Sea Salt Flakes: Sprinkling a bit of sea salt on top enhances the sweet-salty contrast.
